Questions about hood louvers and triangle side pieces on windows

Hi:
I have been visiting this site for a few years now and my husband and I are finally fixing up my '88 Iroc that was bought 4 years ago. He will be painting my rear hatch metal louver in a flat black sometime soon and I have wanted to do the hood louvers as well. They are badly faded. Can they be popped out and painted? If so, how do I pop them out and how to I get them back in? Also, the triangular side pieces on my doors are also badly faded. Any ideas of how to bring them back to good condition?

I might be posting a lot here because I am handling the aesthetic fix ups on the car and my husband is fixing up the mechanical aspects of the car. BTW, this is my baby, not his!! :sillylol:

I think the hood louvers are held in by nuts underneath the hood liner (not sure though as i don't have any)

If you take off the inner doorpannel, the black triangle is held on by a few bolts, you could always take it off, sand it up and shoot it as well

I just replaced my triangle door seals. EASY... Don't bother taking off the whole door panel, the rubber triangle piece will slide right off.
I found the replacements at a bone yard. So I took off the door panel (window needed adjusted anyway) then the whole piece that the rubber triangle piece is attached to (4 bolts). They were different. Mine is a 84' and the doner was a 88' or 89'. So any way, off w\the old & on w\the new.
Oh, I used 'vinyl dressing'. It's a liquid restorer for vinyl.
Hope this helps.....

Are the triangle pieces vinyl? If so, then Son of a Gun or Armorall should work as well? I really don't want to replace them if I can bring them back to showroom quality with some sort of product.

I think they are vinyl (the triangle piece thats at the front of the window) & rubber (the part that slides onto the metal piece in the door frame).
Yeah! Absolutely, as long as they aren't chewed up (like mine was). Why buy new?
If they are faded you might paint them with fabric\vinyl spray paint. Avail. @ Walmart, KMart.... about 4$-5$ a can. Can't go wrong. If you do decide to paint, use steelwool to get a good adhesion.
