upper overhead console

Can someone please explain the overhead console to me?

I've got the console that has the Duration, Miles, stuff on it and have no idea how it works or what its really for.

Also, My rear view mirror has "Distance" and a few other settings on it.

What the heck does it do? As it is, it does not seem to do much of anything.

I guess I'll go ahead and jump in on this since no one else has, the different sets of numbers could really be used for anything. I've heard some use it to keep track of gas mileage, use it to remind of next oil change if you're on a mileage schedule, it's really up to you on that. As far as the rear view mirror, the different setting are pretty self explanatory. I can't remember right off hand what all setting there are but here goes... The distance sets the sensitivity of the sensor when some one tailgates you at night, the mirror will move just a little bit to keep the glare out of your eyes, the other setting is Auto/On. Auto uses a light sensor in the front of the mirror to decide when to turn the functions on, and On just turns it on, regardless of how it looks outside.

Ya, if you read the factory literature on the spools, they are supposed to be reminder spools for whatever you want to be reminded of. I used mine to let me know how long I hadn't driven my car. Set the date every time I got in the car, then then next time I realized i hadn't driven the car in three months, cause it was winter!

the reminder indicators suck...so i ripped them out and put my switches in there. Here's a pic of what mine looks like. I used a sheet of aluminum to fab the plate. i anodized mine blue and drilled the holes....simple mod, and in my opinion, it looks better than having a bunch of "reminder" indicators in there.
