hatch weatherstripping

on my 83 Z/28 i have the weatherstripping on the ridge that runs completely around the hatch area.
when the hatch is closed, there is a gap between the hatch and the body all the way around. is there supposed to be more weatherstripping in there or is it designed to run the rain out of there?
I have no clue
John

I think that's suppossed to be there to let the water run off. I have the same space on my 87 Firebird. Just make sure you clean the channel out periodically so that any wet crap that gets in there doesn't sit and start to rust the area out.

excellent, thank you very much. i'll make sure it's clean.
that gap just doesn't look right, but if it's supposed to be like that, i don't have aproblem with it.
