help with stripping my wheels

i hope this is ok to post here. i'm about to strip the gold paint off of my Z/28 wheels with aircraft remover. should i have my tires dismounted ? will the paint stripper do anything to my tires?
please let me know.

Oh yeah!! You definitely need to take your wheels off for this. Also, it's a good idea to tape around the rim as well so none of the stripper will seep onto the rubber. I'm not sure about the aircraft remover, but I'm guessing it has an alcohol base in it. This will eat off some of the rubber not to mention probably stain the rubber itself. Plus having the wheels off makes it easier if you're going to sand them to polish it up (I'm assuming you're doing that). Good luck.
