Can I swap JUST the speedo and tach needles WITHOUT having to recalibrate anything?!
Okay, I have a 1990 IROC-Z with the regular 145 MPH speedo and the 5500 RPM redline tach. I got a 1992 RS gauge cluster off eBay, because I wanted the plastic gauge lens cover. I noticed that the needles on the RS gauges were ORANGE (the ones on my IROC were a WHITE/YELLOW color). I don't want to swap the entire cluster because the RS is only a 110 MPH speedo with a 6000 RPM redline tach. I am going to take the 4 center guages out and replace them... Finally, here is the question...
Can I just 'pull' the speedo and tach needles off of the 92 RS cluster and put them onto my 90 IROC-Z cluster and be fine? Would I have to recalibrate anything? Would the speedo and tach be EXACTLY as accurate as they are now?!
-Thanks

i took my needles off to put my guages back on... you cant be 100% accurate... but i came 99% accurate... i took a sharpie marker and at the edges of the guages i marked exactly where the needle pointed when the car was off if the needle were extended.... when putting the needles back on be sure to use a straight edge and line up the needles to exactly where you marked off so that when you have no pressure on the needles they will point directly at the mark you made before you took the needles off... i am 99% accurate with the way i did that and i used my GPS and i am ONE mph off of my speedo... my tach is perfect btw
EDIT: if you have any other ?s pm me or something
