how to remove paint off...

i have an 86 z28. im preping the body for paint, when i saw that portions of the paint on the nose have been blown off. so now there are height differences on the nose. i tried using 80 grit paper to remove the rest of the paint off the nose but all it does is scratch it. anyone recommend a way to remove the paint so that i can get down to the plastic.

please help

80 grit is to course to use on plastic-rubber I would recommend useing 180 to sand the old paint off and then go back over it with 320 grit and then you will need to prime with a high build primer to remove the scratchs
