Hatchback Question...

Is there ANY WAY I can open and close my hatch on my 91 RS like a regular trunk rather than using the hatch pulldown motor. It sounds like it is ready to give out and those things are expensive ( even used ones)>Has anyone done this before?PLEASE let me know something guys!!!
THANKS!!!

Ken

From: "No one cares if you're in before the lock!" - Best quote ever.
mine was very easy to do. First, i derailed the motor from the lock (it's 1 or 2 bolts, I believe), and positioned the lock the where it would usually end in it's "pulled down" position. After that, it was a simple matter of a drill, a few screws/bolts, and voila! Non-motorized hatch. Electric hatch release button still works fine for unlocking, too!

Mine is like that too. Disconnect the motor and adjust the assembly down so when it latches it is as far down as it needs to be. Don't have the cash for a new beefed up pull down motor so this will have to do for now. Hatch release still works.
