81 Z28 Cowl Induction Hood on an 89 RS
Just wondering if anyone has put a Z28 cowl induction scoop on a 3rd gen? If anyone has any experinece with this, I am looking for the following information:
1: How do you wire the flapper door so that it opens at WOT?
2. What should you do to make it sit flat on the hood (grind the nubs down, drill bigger holes?)
Thanks for your help.

I think the flapper hooks up to a vacuum line, doesn't it?

I believe that they were wired with a vacuum switch (thanks to the posted in the electrical forum). Vacuum would trigger the switch to ground, closing the circuit and activating the actuator, opening the door.
I tried using a instant on switch (the type that is only on as long as you hold it on) that I had mounted to the throttle bracket. That worked for a couple of hours until I saw smoke coming from the actuator motor.
Does anyone know if there was a relay in the system anywhere?
Thanks again, appreciate the assistance.
