the key wont unlock it. it turns but nothing happens.

the electric switch in the center console just clicks like it wants to open it, but nothing "pops" open.

Might sound stupid, but did you check the fuse?

all the fuses are good in the fuse box. the electic trunk release switch is getting power back to the hatch release, but nothing is happening.

it seems like the lock is stuck or something. how do i get to the mechanism that releases the hatch?

You should be able to just take out the screws that hold on the plastic piece that is over the locking system. I have had mine not let me close the hatch but never the other way.

have you tried turning the key and trying to lift it, a bit?

perhaps it needs some motivation

I just had a problem with my hatch, but my lock cylinder wouldn't turn. Pop out the hatch light from the inside, grab the cable that goes from the lock to the latch and pull pretty good and it should pop. I just had to do this about 2 hours ago. If that doesn't work then the cable may be broken or latch may need some lubrication when you get it apart to look at it.
