Hawks interior kit

Here are the pictures. I finally finished. The silver doesn't come out well at this camera setting. I like this better than going the 4th gen seat route.

Did you install them yourself?

If not, how much did it cost you to have them put on? If you dont mind me asking.

Fast 83,
I did the install myself. I just read a how to do book before I started. The only tuff part was the driver's seat. I had to replace some foam and use stuffing to get the shape back.(it was in BAD shape). The seat covers are really well made and fit very good. I highly recommend them, you can see why.

Which style are those? He has two different styles listed. Which one is closer to the original? I have the same seats but mine are the lighter grey. I don't want to buy the wrong ones
Thanks.

We have the same steering wheel. Were you the one that had to have your seat covers sent like four different times and you ended up with three sets or something like that? What did the whole kit including door panels cost? How long did it take to put them on. Do you remove old coverings first or just place these over the top. Great job looks awesome!

Not to hijack this thread, but as far as which styles are offered...this is what I did. I called Bruce, told him what I had, sent him a pic. I never really even looked on the website except for the very first time. It was all done via the phone and Email. Bruce was GREAT to deal with. I think there are a LOT more combo's and options available than what's on the website, plus I think the site was a little confusing as far as what was available.

Did you also do the install yourself? If so how tuff was it, how long did it take? Requires removal of the seats of course. Are these just held on with clips underneath?

The covers are held on by hog rings from the bottom of the seat.

I cant wait to order my seat covers and door pannels. I've heard nothing but good about Hawk's. Your seats look awesome.

Weird how the Firebird never had seats that "retro" looking.

Personally I am going to keep the stock look except I wish to add the fourth gen leather which just looks like GTA seats except for the headrests are different.

omcrider,
Yes you do take the old covers off.
Yes I am the guy that had all the mix-ups in his order. What I learned from that was not to use the web site. Call Bruce!! All my problems were solved as soon as he found out about them. What the other guy said is true. There are more Items and combos than listed. For example my silver and black door panels wern't listed. Just Call Bruce he is a nice guy that will steer you right.

Looks very well done 89rsragtop, excellent work.
But here a question, anyone know if your seats are in very good condition, can these hawk covers be put over the orginal seats to protect the original seats?

Knight350,
There is no way they would fit over another cover. They are made for a tight smooth fit on the foam . and thanks.

Omcrider,
Thanks for your kind words.Good Luck with your intreior.

89rsragtop..

Very sweet looking! And a nice job done as well. These covers must must be really easy to install, or you took your sweet time doing the install.

I've got a 91 ragtop and the foam on the seats are perfect, but the drivers side seat cover is begining to seperate on the left bolster. So I'm very glad you posted this info, and even happier I stopped in to take a look.

I noticed thirdgen resource sells them as well. No price difference though.

Between thirdgen resource and hawks, I found everything I need to bring new life to my interior. Now I just have to save up for all the goodies I want to get.

One question though.
I noticed the new covers have that black center line going through the seats just like in the original.

One our car this piece is made of vinyl and I'm wondering if the new covers you got has vinyl or just another piece of fabric going down the center.

Thanks

Sunbitz,
It's not a hard job, just a PIA. But it gives you a very high pride factor when done.
The stripe is made of vinyl.

I would also like to know the answer to this question.

I really would prefer to have non vinyl/leather seats because they are a lot of work to keep up. But the vinyl/leather seats are the only ones you can get in solid black.

I thought MrMikes Custom Interiors sold a Black Leather. I know Black Leather is available, where? I don't know. My car has a true black leather, It is blacker than my new black carpet.

Or did I misunderstand your question?

I got the black and grey for fourth gen seats. I only recovered the driver's seat so far. It's a little on the difficult side. There's a lot of adjusting and reseating the cover to get it to sit correct but it looks great. Once I finish the passenger side i'll get some pics.

Or did I misunderstand your question?

I want seat covers that are solid black, but I don't want vinyl or leather, because those materials are high maitinance.

I want a cloth like material that is solid black, but nobody I can find sells them. They only sell covers with two color combinations like black & silver.
