Problems installing new bumper cover
I removed my old from bumper cover from my '88 GTA because it was cracking a little and the paint had started to peel and flake off bad. At one small spot it was down to the bare rubber, so I said **** it and bought a new bumper cover from GM to avoid the hassle of sanding it down. Putting the new one on should have been a 1 hour ordeal but its been giving me a few problems in terms of stuff lining up. The new bumper cover doesn't align perfectly with the foglights (it sits too high), but the old one was like that as well. But now the lower part of the bumper (the one that countours into the GFX) isn't alight and is sticking out slightly. Also the, pressed in studs (the ones that go through the top 2 holes at the front of each fender) on the metal reinforcement piece use these f-d up stamped steel "nuts", and now they seem to not want to go on. The studs have some "special" threading i guess, because regular won't go on. I don't know if i'm missing anything or if there's any special "trick" but half of summer has gone by and this piece of **** is still in my garage, without a bumper cover. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated...........

urethane bumpers never fit perfect. That's why I bought a used one instead of a new one for my GTA, because I knew I'd spend a month screwing with it either way.
