Looking for the technical color name for an 87 firebird with the interior color being light gray. All the aftermarket websites have odd color names that don't seem to match what I want.

 

Do you have your RPOs? If you run them through the RPO decoder on this site, it will list colour names. For example, these are some of mine relating to interior:

82B : TRIM COMBINATION, CLOTH, MED DK GRAY (91)
821 : INTERIOR TRIM (DARK MEDIUM GRAY)
829 : SEAT BELT COLOR, MED DK GRAY (91)
82B : TRIM COMBINATION, CLOTH, MED DK GRAY (91)

I have an '89, so if your interior looks like mine, it's probably the same.

Are you looking to get new seat covers or carpeting?

 

I know where the VIN # is but where on the car is the RPO #.

 

Check in your centre console. There should be a fairly large sticker in there with a whole bunch of three-letter/digit codes.

 

I found it thanks, according to the digits its medium dark gray I also found out I have a THM 700R4 trans

 

What, did you think you had a 5 speed manual before!!!

 

lol that crossed my mind too, but i'm assuming he's not completely clueless and just wasn't sure if he had that, or a th350 or th400 or something like that.
