Krylon Paint color

I'm going to paint all my interior plastic panels in my car from gray to black. I've searched this topic, and all the pictures I've seen of black panels it looks really really shiney. Do they make a flatter black too? Sorry I don't like my interior to blind me like my exterior does. =)

I painted my grill with "Exterior trim paint", it turned out flat black. It's exterior paint, so I bet it would hold up to the interior stuff

I'm not at home right now, so I don't have the exact brand name, but it was paint for exterior trim parts. (rattle can)

Have seen gloss black and satin black.
Most people use the gloss, satin would probably be what you want.

Krylon makes Ultra Flat black and semi flat. Both are flat (I use em on model car kits) The ultra flat may be too flat, but the semi flat would probably be good. The best part is they are like $2.99 a can

Sweet, thanks GunMetal. I think I'll find just one can of the flat, paint a kick panel and see how it turns out.

I do not want ot sound negative, but i would not recomend painting plastic interior panel. The paint will not adhere properly. The previous owner of my car had done this to one kick panel. I ended up replacing it with the proper color.

It will stick as long as the panel is cleaned properly first. You have to chemically remove all traces of any oil, dust, dirt, armor-all, etc. Rubbing alcohol and then laquer thinner usually works pretty good. I would also use special interior paint, not just regular spray paint. The plastic panels are flexable, and most normal paint is not. If you push on the thin plastic panel and it flexes to much the paint will crack right off. It will also chip very easily, my guess is that it can't adhere to the plastic the same way it would to metal or wood. I'm pretty tired right now, so if something doesn't make sense tell me

Matt

Lacquer thinner and plastic is a bad combination. That stuff will eat the plastic.

Not if you don't soak it on. Just put a little on a rag and lightly brush it on the plastic. It will evaporate very quickly, taking only the armorall and crap.
