Rear window unit

Has anyone taken off their rear window unit? How do you do it? Mine has a lot of dirt and grime in the areaunder the black metal trim I can not clean or get to because the window is in the way. Does anybody else have this problem with the inside area? Also, need to paint the black metal again and sand it first, but do they sell an aftermarket window without the metal or a rubber or plastic alternative? Thanks! Andy

Pull it off and then use an amonia based cleaner (windex) to take off the adhesive. You'll need to soak it down pretty good and then use a razor blade to take off the adhesive but it's not too bad. I did mine in about 20 min.
