S10 Heater Box Issues
S10 Heater Box Issues
I picked up an S10 heater box for my car since I took AC out and NEED heat up here. anyways, I put the box on cause I was led to believe it was a direct fit and the first thing I noticed was it isn't a direct fit. the bolt holes didn't like up so I made my own. that seemed to work alright HOWEVER, I've noticed that there are some problems sealing the damned thing. air is blowing out around the edges and not being directed into the vent ducts, but this leads me to my next issue, the defrost vent seems to work fine, and the heater blows, but it's a weak stream, yet the vent doesn't blow at all. Anyone have a diagram of what the paths air take could be? I know a little air is escaping but I find it hard to believe that the huge amount of air the blower makes isn't making it into the ducts. could I have possibly closed out a path or something? does the hole the blower motor sits over flow anything? suggestions and pictures (if available) of what you've done would be great. this is for an S10 heater box, not the direct 1LE swap. getting a 1LE box is NOT an option so I'd really only like help from people who have done the S10 box swap into their cars or know the intricacies of it

Can the wires for the blower motor be reversed?
Put some weather stripping around the edges of the heater box to help seal it.
No vacuum to the heater controls will default the stream to the defrost vents.
Also check to see that the flap is opening on the bottom of the passenger side. There is a rod that goes from the temp lever to the heater box where the heater core is sitting.

thanks Zepher, I think that is what I am missing. the flap is open (the thing in front of the heater core). blower motor only has one connector and a ground and it is blowing the proper direction so its not a cross wire. I need to see what that rod looks like
