Can i take the interior form a corvette

Alright, can I use the seats and dash from a corvette and use it in my 86 Trans Am? I mean I work at car spa and I did a Corvette yesterday and I couldn't get over how nice the seats are in them. So can I at least use the seats?

What about the dash?

Any other parts I can use?

Thanks in advance,
Shane

seats won't be a simple bolt-in, as you have to change the rails, but as far as I know it's definitely do-able
And as far as the rest of the interior, I doubt anything else will work. Maybe shifter ****, e-brake ****, steering wheel and stuff like that but my guess (and I'm no expert in this matter at all, but still) is that's about it...

They should fit on your factory seat rails but that will raise them up to almost the same level as your stock seats. Also of note, they don't fold forward so kiss your rear seat access goodbye.

Alright cool cause the local junk yard has quite few corvettes in them. The seats are really cheap too, $88 for ones in good condition. Then the console is only $90, and other stuff like the dash and gauges is like...... what was it...... $120. Something like that. Well all this is from a 95 corvette they have I guess newer and older year stuff might be more so I don’t know. I was hoping I could get that dash because it’s pretty cool looking. The 97 corvettes they have stuff isn’t much more money but I don’t have that much for each independent part.

vinyl if its race oriented itll offer better support and will not get as warm. Leather for comfort and style, remember leather also gets sticky on hotter days. Both are beautiful.

im actually going to be looking for seats very soon. Are both Spider and Axe companies? or just a style of seat? Any way you could find me a web site for the companies that make both of the seats because my googling came up empty handed

So which one did you like better? I mean I liked the leather one simply because I’m getting ready to completely redo my interior cloths with leather. The door panels will be redone with leather, the seats are hopefully going to be leather (the back seats are going soon though). What else is fabric besides my headliner? I'm the famous d00d on here with a fur headliner. The only one there ever was and will be.

So what else will need to be made leather?

At the local Wal-Mart, they have a leather like material is only $3.77 a yard, which isn’t bad at all. Considering I’ll need about 4 or 5 yards to do this it wont be expensive at al will it?

Though the first thing I’m going to do is buy a 4th gen console (97-02), and then do the seats then the door panels, then well my list is pretty long here it is,

---------------------------

97+ 4th Gen Console $50
Seats $100
Leatherier door panels $?
4th Gen Dash $300
Carpet $115
Rear Seat Covers $?

----------------------------

ROH Snypers 18in $180 (x 4)
Cooper Zeon 2XS $120 (x 4)
4th Gen Style Wing $450

----------------------------

4x6 Speakers $80
6x9 Speakers $100
Fiberglass the 6x9 baffle $?

-----------------------------

LT1 Engine $900
Accessories for install $500
Performance Upgrades $1500

-----------------------------

That’s my list every body. That’s what’s going to happen to my car as of now.

They are both companies but pretty unknown companies. I'm looking at these because my friends have them in their cars and those things are so comfortable it’s not even funny. Way more comfortable that the stock seats. And plus they are leather. The only thing is that shipping on seats is a biatch; $125 for shipping. From summit an entire engine is $115 to your house. That’s how they are making their profit, with the shipping.

but still that total price is $225, you cant beat that for two seats really. They are universal i i can give you my own guarentee thnat they will be more comfortable than your stock seats, my friend has these,a nd anohter has the leather one. The only difference really is that the leather is a bit more slippery.

What would you need to do about the seatbelts? Will stock seat belts work, im thinking of picking these up. They go into our cars no problem right?

yeah the stock seat belts will work, and tghey are a universal design, which means there are different bolt patterns ont he bottom of the seat.

I've decided gusy that i'm gonna buy the $99.99 seats with a 4 point safety harness, for racing. hehe

This is gonna be first on my list now. skip the console for now. I want some seats now.

Cool! I just bought the leather seats, as long as they work with stock seat belts, i'll be happy, i'll just pick up some 4th gen black leather seats for the back. I normally hate racing seats but those leather ones were just.....wow! Anything else special im going to need? Also, with the stock seat belt, they won't rub and ruin the seat will they? IF so, anything I can put on the belt to keep the rubbing friction down? Thanks.

alright, well tell me how they come out d00d. Take some digital pics anad post rhem cause if they're cool enough i'll buy the leather ones instead, but then i gotta add on the extra for the safety harness. It will make my car look like it is actually for racing, too cool of a look.

Yea, I want to go four point however, after reading a few posts, I don't wanna be trapped in a car or install a roll cage. I'll definatley post pics. So do the stock belts rub? If so, i'll get some felt or some other soft material and put it on the seat belt where it would rub.

i dont think that if the seat belts rub that they will do too much. But it might be a good idea todo what your tlaking about. It seems to have a big gap right where the seat belts go, so that it wouldn't rub like your talking about.

hope the seats are great,

Im thinking it will rub around that area too, I mean thats why I need new seats, when I bought the car there is a big hole on the side from the seat belt constantly rubbing, even on my cousins 00 trans am he is getting the rub marks from the seat belt, I wanna prevent this if possible.

I think it would look so good with a four point harness, I just don't want to get into a wreck (*** forbid) and have my wife or someone else in the passenger trapped, I don't really care about me. Not to mention tickets for having inproper seat belts.

EDIT: Also, hope ya know that wasn't the last one.

WHOAH, do not buy from this seller, check his feedback, most are saying he doesn't ship the correct item. Another buyer who bought those leather spyder seats are saying they aren't even the real deal, weighed 35 lbs and had steel framing, not as listed on the auction. Im calling my credit card company first thing in the morning to to make sure I am not charged in any way. Check out his feedback, the people who left him negative feedback have positive feedback from this guy all saying the same thing, worse comes to worse, i'll take a negative feedback rather than be ousted out $419 smackeroos. Its like they say, too good be to be true? It is. I wouldn't bother with this guy, seems shady. On his check out page he is listed as:

Performance Racing
970 W. Valley Pkwy
PMB 446
escondido, California 92025
United States

Called 411, no phone number or such place exists.

Goes to show ya to be careful out there. Even if he does ship im pretty sure he just throws some cheap crap on a already built seat and makes it look like the real product.

yeah d00d i saw that stuff, but form the percentile of good ratings to bad ratings, there is a very good chance that you will get what you ordered. I'd trust him becuase like i saqid my friends bought seats fromt eh same guy and got theirs. They are the real deal also.

yeah well you also never read far enough into the rating. He has replied to each fo the negative ratings saying that the problem was corected. He obviously hasn't had enough time to correct the latest mistakes so therefor they wont be corrected. He makes a mistake 7.5% of the time, that only 7.5%. He does good 92.5% of the time. I think you should be willing to take that small risk. But knowing that he will fix it. Cause he will. I'm gonna buy the leather seats also so i'll tell you guys how my customer service actually went. I'll tlel you though outa all the thing si've bought off ebay it was always my fault when something happened. Like giving incorrect number/addresses. Things of this sort.

Oh, okay, that is reassuring then, I e-mailed him asking him for his phone # that way there won't be any problems and let him know I was worried about his feedback.

If I can get someone on the other line, i'll feel a lot better about it. But man, its not so much the good % vs. the bad % its that they all complain about the same thing =/.

He has four point harnesses going for 10 bucks and 75% of who ordered those gave negative feedback saying they paid and got nothing. But if you say this guy is okay, if I can get a phone #, i'll feel a lot better.

Yea, I was just worried after seeing 100+ of the same reaction on the negative feedback and didn't want to get jipped.

I spoke with them already and they still seemed a bit shady, told them I had done the checkout and they said it didnt show up and wanted to do it again over the phone, asked to speak with the manager and he said the checkout takes 24 hours to process usually, so almost got charged twice =/.

They seem a bit shady but I am going to stick with the item through them, just gonna keep in touch with them constantly, I don't want to be taken for a ride. Also, you sprung any ideas on how to get rid of that spider? Its the only thing I don't like about the seats :P. Also, how comfortable are these?

yeah i know exactly howto get rid of it. My crandma makes stuff out of cloth and does a lot of sowing. What yiou do it get a tool shaped likew the one below

***Goes to go take a pic of the tool***
alright and you use the little rasor between the two rasors to break the strings and just pull it out with some plyers. The only thing is that they wil mostlieky leave some kinda reminence of it being there gbut not very noticable. Just like if someone ask you "what are those seats," you say "spyders, look at the top," they say "oh wow i woulda nevcer noticied it."

Haha, yea I was thinking they are threaded, hmmm....I'll have to wait ti'll they get here I suppose.

Also, I was looking at four point harnesses and noticed the Schothes or whatever are DOT approved and just buckle to the rear seats.

Know where I could find these at a cheap price? If not, guess I could go look for some black or white (not sure what color to go with, im thinking white with the black leather, but you can't go wrong with black) stock type belts if I can find them, thanks for the tip!

EDIT: Oh, I wanted to ask you, since you have two friends who installed these seats, did they put them in a f-body? If so, how much work was it to get them to fit properly? Thanks.

well they didn't put them in f-body's, it was more like a Chevy Caviler, and a Chevy S-10. The S-10 has a L98 conversion its a pretty cool truck, really fast too(well for a truck).

I dont really know where i can find them harnesses at but you might find the cheapest prices on ebay, ya know.

I cant believe that you have to be 18 to get into a junk yard. Is this normal? i'mnever gonna be able to goto a junk yard for 1.5 years. Sooo gay. I drove to a junkyard for 30minute ride, only place with a 97+ camaro/firebird console i needed(manual). Got there withmy mom and they wouldn't let me in. I hate that ****ing place. I stood right there and called her a fat *** bitch when i left. Wont be going there anymore.

probably. But the reason they have the thing with being 18 is because its a pretty big liability to have people on your property taking parts off your cars which is potintally dangerous. I bet most junkyards that have insurance to cover what could happen to customers pays though the roof for it.

I think i should have said i dotn got a drivers license but i got a military id, i give it to her and the b-day is pretty hard to find on them. Maybe i could have gotten in.

WRONG! lol

My buddy in highschool had a banged up 86 bird and his interior was in crappy shape. Well, his goofy grandfather bought him an entire interior out of this PIMP GTA in one of the local boneyards... and by PIMP, I mean it had a complete black fur interior.

He hated it but his stock stuff was so worn out and this stuff was in great shape, he installed it anyway. He had a black fur headliner, black fur seats (not slip on covers, but recovered in this stuff), and door panels.

Lol, good times. We ragged on him so bad. Everytime we would ride in his car, my other buddy would sit in the back and act like a monkey picking fleas out of the front seat

hehe, good times, good times

Corvette seats

Going back to the vette seats, I know for a fact that the seats from a 1986 do fold forward, Me and a buddy of mine (his TGO name is Screamin87GTA) just worked on my buddies 86 greenwood vette and we discovered how to fold them forward. There's a slider on the back of the seat, right behind the headrest. You slide it up and then the seat is able to fold forward. I'm pretty sure the vettes had the same seats from 1984-1989 b/c in 90 the interior was redesigned.

I've been toying with the idea of vette seats for a while, I can't decide between vette seats, 4th gen seats, or just getting mine redone....

I'm more interested in the $99.99 set, I think they look equally cool, and the cheaper set is a heck of a lot cheaper. I would really like leather and all, but the price difference isn't quite worth it to me. (epsecially if that spider doesn't come off clean lol)
and kidrcth, do your friends have the leather or the cheaper ones? I'm really going to try and conjure some money up for those cheapo seats I'm thinking

Quick Reply: Can i take the interior form a corvette
