Wiper arm

Hey guys.....and gals,

I've got a problem with my passenger side wiper arm.

It doesn't retract all the back under the hood once you turn them off and it looks like crap sticking out like it does.

What causes this and what can I do to fix it??

I tryed pulling the arm off and putting it back on to offset the difference and it just doesn't seem to adjust.

Thanks,

C

Oh, this is on a 92 RS.

This started happeneing on my sister's car. First it started doing that, then the wiper stopped moving altogether. I tightened the nut ont he wiper arm, and it worked of for about a month, then it happened again. So I replaced the nut with a locking nut and tightened it down real good... has worked fine ever since. not sure if it is the same with the Camaro, but I dunno how different they can be.

our cars dont actually use the nut set up on the wiper arms. They slide down over a slotted part that sticks up out of the cowl and then use a spring loaded clip to keep them in place. What may be happening with yours is the arm may be gettign stripped out or the part it attetches to may also be going bad. Id take a look at both parts as well as all the bushings in the wiper system to make sure they arent wearing out as well.

I'm going with meridius on this one because, it happened on my old old camaro to the drivers side wiper are. At 1st it started out with a little slack (the actual retainer clip had bent as well causing the slack). The slack started to wear the inside part of the arm. Eventually it stripped out. I stole the one of my bird and everything was good again... until I forgot to take the arm off and replace it on the bird before the cam went to the junyard... oops.
