Restoring/Replacing T tops

I have a set of 92 Lexan T tops on my car, and they are in pretty bad shape. If you look through them and ignore the big 3 inch long crack, you see a million and a half little 1/4 long cracks. Looks like a big spiderweb. I found some t tops at the junkyard today that were also a pin style, but glass. Obviously, I have to do something about the key. Is it possible to remove the locks from my t tops and install them on the glass tops? I read somewhere that they are riveted in place, but I have not wanted to take either of them apart in fear of damaging them. Anyone know how to restore them to like new condition (obviously replacing the cracked lexan)?

There are two little pop rivets that hold the lock assembly in place. If you need it, I can send you a copy of the diagram and instructions for replacing it.

if you open them both up, you should be able to transfer over the "guts" of the latch including the lock from one set to the other. I did this from one glass set to another and wouldn't expect the lexan tops to be any different inside. once you get the release handle and plastic cover off, you need to remove the weatherstripping. carefully remove it from the metal track it's in and then unscrew the metal track from the t-top. Now you'll have access to I think 3 screws that hold the entire latch assembly. Unscrew it and you can swap it over with the lock and all to another set. The toughest part is not tearing the weatherstrip when you remove it and then getting the metal track for the weatherstrip re-installed in the proper position. I'd reccomend marking where the metal track lines up before removing it. Hope this helps

Something else you want to make sure of is that the T-tops matchup. When my lexan t-top flew off my 92' GTA and broke. I tried to use my glass one off my 84' But not all third Gen T-tops are made equal.

as far as size goes, the only difference would be if they were the C&C t-tops(cars and customs) as far as i know
