4th gen gauge swap question....
4th gen gauge swap question....
Well, after about an hour of searching, I failed to find an answer.
Is it possible to get the digital odometer from a 97-up cluster to work in our cars?
I have an 86 with the electric 140 mph speedo and an automatic tranny if that helps. Not sure how the odometer functions on those newer dashes. I'd really like to use it so it'll match my 4th gen CD player.

That's cool. Someone has one on eBay with like 640 something miles.
One more question. Do I need 2 dakota buffer boxes? I know I need one for the tach but what about speedo? Couldn't really find any info on here about the newer clusters...

should only need one for your tach.. the speedo expects a 4000 ppm signal.. and that is what the vss is sending in the 3rd gen so no you wont need 2 boxes so far as i have seen everyone elses experiance on here.. i am about to do it myself with a 98 cluster... customx has done it maybe he can help more..
