How would you fix this?
My console has been like this since I purchased the car. I am thinking I will definatly need clamps, but what is used to hold it together perminatly?

Youre from V8s10.org also!!! sweet!! Well im 96s-10ss over there. Well why dont you just a type of epoxy to get it on there? Epoxy has like a 1200lbs rating on it. I think it will hold. Dont you?

I'm all about do-it-yerself projects, but for that I'd buy a new console. Not that you can't fix the problem, but inevetably it's still got scratches and good ole wear and tear.
...but hey, if it's worth fixing, I try some kind of epoxy. I'd ask a body shop, or maybe a high end custom stereo shop what they recommend!

Problem with using epoxy in there, is the fact that theres still a foam-like material on the inside, and it doesent let anything adhere all that well.
Ok, here's the deal. That is completely fixable, and you can easily make it look brand new. When I had my GTA dash/centerconsole in my camaro, the console I got was just like that. DO NOT try to put some epoxy in there and squeeze it back together. It'll NEVER hold. What you have to do is get a razor blad, the type wih the handle for scraping windows and ****, and use that to scrape all that foam crap off the inside. Then, and this is the most important step, get a couple sheets of cardboard cut to fit on the inside walls of the console, and epoxy/glue them together and then to the sides of the console. Reason is, if you don't, getting rid of the foam will make you have to force the sides of the console together to get it to sit flush with the sides. That puts pressure on it, and with that foam in there, will just fall apart. The cardboard makes the console sides sit in there original spot, and there is no pressure. Worked on mine perfectly for the year I had it in there.
When done right, you cannot see the cardboard, incase you're wondering.
Oh, and I hope that make sense, just look at the console and you'll see what I'm talking about

Sorry I didnt get to post, went to see "The Passion of The Christ" All I can say is you have to see it for yourself!
Anyways, thanks for the fix!!! But now I have another question...
Since this is a Formula, the B&M mega shifter wont bolt in(needs some work to fit) Could I just buy a Camaro console so I can install it properly? If I remember correctly, the Camaro one has the windows and a hatch button, where as my formula has windows and a power mirror adustment.
They should swap reguardless of buttons, just wanted to ask..

this is going to sound a bit *******....but JB WELD it....they make a JB Weld that is especially for car interiors, it doesnt say that but when you read the applicaions that is what it screams to you....the JB Weld might be a little more expensive than the Liquid nails...but it will also be a good bit less messy...plus it has been my experience in the past that liquid nails doesnt do too well with liquid...and I dunno abotu you but I am forever spilling a drink in my car because of hte lack of cup holders....once I get a 4th gen console ill be getting new seats and carpet then becuase ill have cup holders!!!! jsut my ideas....

If you fix it correctly the shift plate will cover the seam so no liquid should get in there. I used liquid nails for my speaker box to seal the seams, i left the speakers out and watter leaked in and the wood leaked b4 the liquid nails. ive done this to 4 cars including mine and have had nothing but success.
Use the construction liquid nails.
Use the construction liquid nails. Your best bet is to do what I suggested. Not trying to sound like I know everything, or anything...but that's what he guy at he interior/vert top shop up the street from my house suggested, and that's what I did. Turned out really good. If you don't put the cardboard in there, and just try to glue the sides with or without the foam, you'll see what I'm talking about. The foam def. won't stick again, and even with the foam gone, you'll see how the sides will want to pull away from each other once they're glued. That's why everyone has needed to use clamps to hold them together while the glue dried.

I used rubber cement. Held pretty good. I took the console out and pulled back the material as much as I could. Put alot of the rubber cement on material back and console plastic let it tack up, then clamped it down with 2x4s and clamps, let set clamped up for 2 days. Seemed to work great had it in my car like that for 2 years, just took it out and put in a console for an 01.

I think this would be alot like fixing the door handles. Theres a tech article on here I think. I used JB Weld and put it all inside and than used 2 pieces of wood on either side of the split, and clamped them down real good. They came out great and are still holding up fine, for like a 5 dollar temporary fix I was happy with it.
