how do I remove the heater control panel?
I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not. If not could the mod plz move it to where it needs to be? thanks
My ? is how do I take out the heater a/c control panel mounted in the dash that sits on top of the radio?
Mine doesnt work I dunno if it's the whol epanel junk or a temp switch or heater switch or something guy at adavanced and auto zone called it.
They had the heater rigged when I bought the car something aweful. Had a hot wire run to it that was hot when key was on and have the lil block plug in on top of the heater box underhood unplugged thats looks like a fuses upside down or a relay thgin or somethgin i only have the bottom part dunno where the top is?
I asked me dad if the top was suposed to have wires goin to it he said yea wherever the hell the top or the wires are lol we dont know! lmao.So i am planiing on goin to boneyard or something and geting the control panel wiring n that sorta thing from a doner car. If the wiring isnt too hard to get out but im goin to definately get pics of how its wired so we'l know.
I was goin to emove it when i hd my consoul out but it had a cable goin to it which i asume was to move it fomr defroster to vents or heat to a/c , its a metal cable like a brake cable on a bike or something. I could'nt see well enough to determine how to take it off w/o cuttin it or junkin it so it could be reused on another unit. So if anyoen could give me a walk thru tech article and or some pics and instruction to help me get it out of there it would help alot thanks.

take the front cover off, which is with the 4 tork scews, and then there will be 3 or 4 bolt/screws holding the face of the heater control to the dash, undo those, and pull out, and you'll have wires hanging off of it etc. you figure that out

done had it apart that much had a plug on the back i think but wires were too short to get in and take out and had a cable on it that i couldnt figure out how to get loose w/o breaking it.
I don't remember how the end of the cable attaches to the back of the switch panel, but I do remember the other end of it. If you look above where the passenger's feet would be, you can see it. Move the lever back and forth and you'll see it move (unless you have hush panels covering it up). It is pretty easy to take loose at that end. I used to have one that just fell apart all the time. If you don't have any luck at the switch panel end, maybe you can take it loose here and pull the whole thing out.

that sounds like a plan to me see i dont have the relay of fuse or whatever that is that mounts to it so i need to do some junkin and find one complete and take it apart i was goin to pul the whole thgin liek taht dunno on wiring but at least the under hood part if i can figure it out ill take all the wiring ou and use it. and the cable as well definatly since its easier to take out there.
i dont think i have hush panels because i can see the wires for my computer and im thinkin i should have a cover there but i dont so im goin to try find one of thoose as well.
