I have a 1986 Trans Am and i was convetring all my lights over to red and i came across a light just above the A/C controls and it is burnt out. But I cant find a replacement. It isnt just a light alone you have to replace the whole Housing. I went to a GM parts and they said it was discontinued. So i was wondering if anyone has replaced this before and where they got it from.

 

if i'm not mistaken u are talkin about the light that plugs into a socket which attaches to the heater controls and its basically the same kinda bulb as yur marker lights would have in them i call them clearence lights.
u can get em at any auto parts store and ive seen colored ones and covers for em in colors around here.
got a pic so i can be sure im almost postivie i know the one u talkin about and its the same as ur outside marker lights and i call em clearence bulbs.
u cna buy a package of a bunch of em at auto part splaces.

 

no its not a 194 bulb, I know what your talking about, yoru local car place would have one, for me, my local canadian tire, best to just pull it out then show it to someone.

There is a (pointless) little light in the actual dash above the hvac controls, not in them. It seems to just be a light for the ashtray (and to light the hvac sliders). The bulb is not replaceable w/o destroying the holder is it in.
My guess is you'll just have to find one that works in the junkyard if you really must have it.

 

yea thats the one i know you cant replace the bulb cause i tore it apart hoping i could fix it or something. Does anyone have one they dont want anymore or does anyone know how i can get one.
