Can you paint over mothers?

Im in the prosess of redoing my 15" 5 spokes and i now see that some parts of the machined rim part of the wheel has like a darker color than the rest of the machined part. If i use mothers polish to get the stain out can i use a clear coat over it or will it fisheye due to the polish? Will it work if i use something to clean the mothers off after i polish it?

it will fisheye for sure. It's a polish......paint won't be able to stick to it. You might try just rubbing some alcohol on the area....that will clean it and make it stick.

if you want it clean before you clear it, you can hit it with some BRAKE cleaner.... (carb cleaner will leave some oils)
