The rear deck on my '89 RS pops open occasionally
(half dozen times this past year).
The deck motor responds as if the deck were
opened with a key.
Any ideas?

My 91 Formula has done that a couple of times in the last 6-8 weeks as well. Since I have the electric opener, I suspect a bad wire somewhere (or the switch). Just haven't had a chance to run it down yet...
