Stereo won't fit all the way.

So a while ago I installed a sony deck, using the correct aftermarket plate. The problem is, the deck will not go all the way down. It sticks out about 3/4 of an inch.

It seems to hit the floor on the other side. Is there anything that can be done?

Could you post a pic of it installed now?
I'm trying to remember if there is anything back there that it could be hitting.

The stock stereo slide into a bracket, but I don't think you need to remove it.

Had to bend the stock bracket out of my way, as it made it sit even higher. I can try to get a pic soon.

IIRC, this is pretty common and you often see the head unit sticking out a bit on a lot of installs. On mine it was hitting the HVAC duct. If you are inclined to do so, you could modify the duct to allow it to fit flush with the face plate.

When I put my Kenwood in, I had to cut a piece of some plastic part in the back to get it to go all the way in. I think the cable connectors that plugged onto the back hit it or or the back corner or something like that.

There is a bracket back there with a hole to accept the "bullet" on the back of the stock stereo, that supports the rear. You may have to remove that bracket.

Make sure you jam the wiring down so that the radio slides over them. If you have that screw jetting out the back, take it off if it doesn't find a hole. Another thing is, what is the length of the deck? They do come in different sizes, maybe yours is an extra long one?
