Audio idea
First off I swapped a 90s aftermarket stereo and speakers out of my car. For jbl gto series speakers. Much better... But I'm still not pleased with those 3x5s especially. So... Here is my idea.
Swap the front speakers for some way 3.5" speakers and the rears for either 6.5 or 8" subs and use a 2 chanel amp to power the subs and run the 3.5s off the head unit. No idea where to put the amp... Maybe under passenger seat if it's small enough. Thoughts on this. What speaker sizes will fit, and has anyone done something similar?
I really love my logitech z623 computer speakers and they are 2 small simple 2 way satellites 35w rms and 1 8" 130w rms sub 200w rms total these things are loud and sound good as loud as you want to turn them up. This is what I'm basing my idea on. I want similar quality.

Re: Audio idea
Your front speakers should be a 4x6, have you actually verified the size?
It sounds to me like you're more interested I sound quality than SPL, if this is the case you may want to look at something like the Focal K2's. This 3 piece setup will give you the crisp highs, vibrant midrange, while still having a dedicated mid driver for your bass. Running a decent 2 channel on these would suffice and then run some lower quality 6x9 on deck power in the back just for a little rear fill.

Re: Audio idea
Some places call them 4x6 some call them 3x5. I'm going to stick with round speakers from now on. I know for a fact bigger isn't always better. I'll look into the focal k2s I was looking at Rockford Fosgate. However the quality audio stuff seems to come in sets. The sets usually have bigger speakers that won't fit up front in my 86 camaro. If I could find a system with smaller speakers for up front (I don't care about tweeters) some 3"-4" and if I could get at at least one 8" sub for the back seat speaker mounts I'd be happy.

you wouldn't know for sure until you get your dash pad off and look where the mounting screws are. You can make almost a thing for depending on how much cutting or bundling you want to do. I had an Isuzu rodeo that had 4's in the rear so I can tel you JVC is still producing a speaker in that size. It will run just fine on normal deck power. I recommend sticking with your factory size if you're not wanting to do an elaborate component system.

I don't want the factory size oval speakers they just don't produce good sound. It will be a future project. I just want some ideas of what will fit. I'd like to know if anyone has done something similar. I will have to look more in the forums.

Re: Audio idea
A couple things can make a speaker not sound good. I'd see what's in there now first. If it's he original factory speaker then a lot of the bad sound is likely because wearer talking about an almost 30yr old paper coned speaker. If you just prefer a 4 round, I'd buy a cheap set, pull it apart and see if it fits. You may have to drill a couple holes for mounting. Once you know it's going to work then go buy your good set. Make sure you measure depth though. I ran into this issue when I changed to focals in my Isuzu, the magnet was too large and I had to cut the plastic panel to fit them.

Re: Audio idea
If you read the original post. I have JBL GTOs in there. They are better than what was in there (aftermarket probably from the 90's). I'm just looking for better quality. The JBLs aren't right :/

Re: Audio idea
Sorry I do recall reading that. I just woke up this morning. If quality is your concern I'd look at something alpine , a mid level kicker can sound good too although they are a little bright for my taste.

Re: Audio idea
I'll have to look more into it I suppose. Idk why car audio is so expensive my logitech z623 computer speakers sound amazing and i paid $100 for them new... 2 3" satellites and 1 8" sub. 200w satelites are 35w and the sub is 130w buzzes a little at high volume when no sound is playing but seriously those speakers are great im looking for something like that.

Re: Audio idea
Do the ohms actually matter for quality? My computer speakers are 6 ohm satellites and 8 ohm sub.
