bb hood opening?

Hey, as many of you know, the bb hood has that closed section in the front that looks like it should be opened for ram air. I do know that this hood does function as a cowl hood. Now, here is my question. Should I cut out the front inlet and fill it with some sort of mesh or should i leave it closed? My hood should be here today and I was curious of what people would or did do. Also, if i plan on cutting it out, any tips as to what I can fill it with(mesh ect.)?

I would not cut this part as it helps move air through the radiator when you are driving down the road
