Yo everyone! This is my first time posting.

I own a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. I'm not that good with cars and I found this message board really does have a lot of intelligent people out there, possibly you guys could help me out?

Basically, I'd like to start updating my interior. The first project I'd like to do is have a new console, (like a 1999 console installed in my 1987 to make it look more updated.)

Can someone please tell me what I have to order? I was looking at the 97-98 lower console, is that all I need? I want to replace the whole thing...I figured once I bought it I'd just have it installed because I don't know how to do it, that's why I need to know what parts I'd need.

first off since youre new i get to be the first to say SEARCH or use the stickys at the top of the forum, this has been discussed over and over...but anyways

the lower console is basically only half the console, the upper console actually has the cutout for your shifter and the like. Your best bet is to search at other websites like ls1 or ls2.com or camaroz28.com or the classifieds here for people parting out their 4th gens, and getting a console from them. you could also try junkyards. But anyways if you search youll find a ton more places to get the entire console for cheaper then buying all the little pieces new like from hawks.
