thirdgen shifter in v6 fourthgen??
Got a quick question. I already searched for it but didn't find any answers. Will an auto shifter out of a 88 Camaro bolt up and plug in properly in a 2000 3.8 Camaro? There aren't any differences in the mounts or the electrical connections are there? Thanks

well, this is quite opposite of the research i had done, but i migth be able to give some light on the situation anyway. To answer the Questoin, yes, it will bolt in (or atleast it should bolt in) Also, the connectors should be the same (atleast i believe they are, but i'm not 100%) When i was doing my 4th gen auto console swap, people had mentioned getting a 4th gen shifter to replace the thirdgen one, which would therefore mean they're interchangeable, or atleast can be w/ some modification. The only problem i see is that a 4th gen auto shifter is shorter than a thirdgen counterpart, which is why using a 4th gen shifter in a 4th gen autoconsole ( in a thirdgen) is recommended as it allows the console to sit closer to it's stock height, with less modification to the actual shifter, as a result of using the 3rd gen shifter in the auto console, you'll end up having to either trim the 4th gen auto console to clear the shifter, along w/ trimming the shifter to fit under the console. I'd highly recommend hitting bone yards, and finding a shifter for a 93+ v6 camaro/bird as they litter the yards here. If you can't find one, you can hire my services
and i'll pull one from St. Louis and ship it to ya.

Sorry guys but you know the rules. This is not REALLY thirdgen related.
