Replacing a damaged spoiler before painting?
I have a few questions on a new fiberglass/stock style wing I just bought. My old wing is shattered near the middle and driving on the highway causes it to vibrate and smack the decklid like a jackhammer. This is the wrap around Trans Am wing for a 91.
1. It's primered and ready for paint. I am planning on getting the car painted by November/December. I don't want to drive with the damaged wing, so, is it possible/safe for the wing to put the new primered one on? If so, is there anything special I need to do to it now or during its unpainted time on the car?
2. This is a 91 TA. It didn't come with any new attaching hardware, so... Is it safe to reuse the old hardware? clips/bolts/etc? If not, what type of bolts should be used to replace the old ones?
3. What type of waterproofing/washers/sealer do I need to use around the bolt holes to keep water from getting in the car, and is there anywhere else I need to do this besides the holes?
