Rear seat latch question

I just purchased a rear seat from tonyrodz for my Formula and noticed that it came with only a latch for the passenger side of the seat back. The one I took out had a latch on both sides. The seat from Tony appears to have came this way from GM so my question is what years was this setup used before going to dual latches? Mine is a 90 and the new seat is from an 88. Any Camaros come like this or was this Firebird only?

I noticed this as well between the several thirdgens i have owned. i believe gm put the latches on both sides in 89 with the rear shoulder belts.

I have noticed that some cars come with the split rear seats and some have the one piece fold down seats. The split seats had two latches and the solid seat only had one latch on the passenger side. Not sure if this applied to all models with the one piece rear seat.

Both seats in this deal are one piece seat backs. I was mainly just curious as to the difference in the latch setup as I have never seen it before.
