82 gfx to 91 gfx ???
Hey guys im probably goin to be switchin gfx on my car becuz im gettin bored with the stock 1982 gfx package. so im goin to be puttin 91-92 z28 gfx on my car. my questions are is there a differnce between how the 1982 gfx attach to the rocker panel compared to the 91 gfx? and does the lower gfx on the nose bolt to the fenders any differnet? and the door pieces use the same holes as the other gfx right?
thats basiclly my main concerns with switchin to the other style. thanx guys.

I am not entirely sure about all the ground effects pieces but I do know that the bolt holes are different on the fenders for the front bumper ground effects piece. All you have to do is drill new holes to make them fit the fenders, I do not know about the rest though. The 85-90 Z-28 bumper is the same as all the 91-92 bumpers so it might bolt right up to that. For the door pieces I do not see why they would have different holes. From what every one says it is a pretty easy swap, you just have to make a few new holes here and there if anything.

Hey Tim, I just did the conversion with my 83 Z so I should be able to help you out
Practically all the mounting holes are different for the 91-92 gfx so be ready to drill some new holes. Here is basically what I had to do.
Rear GFX- You will need to drill 2 new holes. Make sure you get the brackets for them also because the 82-84 style dont use any.
Rocker GFX- You will need to drill 2 holes for the fender brackets and drill one hole right before the rear wheel for another bracket. The holes on top pretty much match up. But the tabs beneath the gfx didnt really line up for me. I didnt mess with that since the gfx were pretty secure and it would be a pain to drill them.
Door GFX- You will have to drill all new holes. I learned that the hard way
I think there are 5 holes total. I went to a junkyard and measured the hole locations on a 91 and none of the holes were the same with my 83.
Front GFX- You will have to cut 2 slits on each fender for the mounting tabs. I also got measurements from the junkyard. Also make sure you get the bracket for that. You will also need to change noses.
It will take some work but its definetly worth it

cool thanx. i was just thinkin since i got to replace my fenders do you think it would be wise to go with a set of 91-92 fenders so that the gfx will just bolt up easier?
theres also a 91 RS at the junk yard so i might be able to save money and get most if not pretty much all the pieces from there excupt the bumpers which ill get all new. hmm now im thinkin i might ask the junkyard how much for the doors off that 91 RS. there power windows so all ill have to do is run the wires from my car to the door and replace the window (i needed somethng and had to brake the window)
thanx if theres anything else let me know i really wanna do this and make the car look nice

Yeah if you are going to replace the fenders just go with the 91-92 style. If you could get the parts from the 91 RS that would be cool, it will save you on shipping and you can use it for reference. And If you could get the door I would definetly do that. That way everything will line up perfect. Mine lines up pretty good but it could be better. Swapping doors are pretty easy. I swapped doors from my parts car since it had power windows and power locks
