paint chips

My car has some paint chips from stones and whatnot. What should I use to cover these up? Just regular touch up paint from an auto store? I saw some stuff at Autozone that was a 2 part process. It involved wet sanding and putting some clear coat on. Anyone ever use that stuff/process? Which should I do? Also, where is the paint code on my car?
Thanks.
