Where are you finding 4th gen dashes?

Maybe junkyards, local sellers, ebay, what?

I can't find ANYTHING local and short of buying a parts car and spending $2k, how are you all coming into these parts?

just bout my second 4th gen firebird dash from a junkyard. I've seen them on ebay as well, w/ airbags (the ones people want) for 300-350 bux, that'll normally get you a wiring harness as well, but sometimes not, just depends. My second one is essentially an "extra" for the time being, until i can find a 98+ dash. It's amazing actually, the 4th gen f-bodies tend to blow the airbags at about 5 mph it seems, very very rare to find one that's actually functioning.

I have a 4th gen Camaro dash. It's ebony in color and it's just the dash no wiring or gauges. I'll let it go for $200.00 plus shipping.

ebay, all the vette seats you want. do remember though, vette seats are only two, yet you'll still be paying 800 bux for them, (more than 4th gens) I'd like to have a set too, but for that price, it'll be a while.

Same time, i'm still not 100% sure if C5 seats fold foward, and it's been a while since i've been in one. Might be something else to think about w/ them, they would look cool though.

And why don't you just buy some really bad *** racing seats for that price? I wouldn't know.

Maybe you just want to pay that much for the little checked flag etched into the seat?

for the daily drive, and the "factory" appearance, racing seats are not the way to go. They can look good, but i'd only like to see them in a car that has been modified for racing, and most likely road course or sometime of sanctioned endurance racing. In which case racing seats look good, if you go to a car show with them in, people are expecting to see a ton done to the motor/ tranny/ unibody/ suspension, etc. And if that stuff's missing, it almost looks like you just "cheaped out"

I dont do ebay, i liek teh vette seats jsut becasue in colorado every **** burner has aftermarket seats, i have considered them and still do look now and then but i think the corvette seats would give it a different look, plus they are super comfortable. They do fold over all teh way to the wheel, i went and checked out them on my neighbors vette.

I still hold out hope that i will find a vette or t/a or ss in the paper parting out and the seats are cheap, might be waiting awhile

got a place here in St. Louis called "Just Vettes" have a huge vette inventory. Occasionally you'll find them selling LS1's on ebay disassembled (if it's taken apart, but complete, and is coming from st. louis, its coming from them). They might have some C5 seats, however, don't know the likely hood of it. Also don't know how tall the c5 seats are compared to the thirdgens, as the floor pans are different for the vette of course, and rails would have to be swapped, and after the rails were swapped (or fabricated) i don't know where the seats would rest.

I had some seats from a monte carlo that i was going to try to put in my bird. Had to swap the rails to get it to fit in the car, and after i did, the seat looked great. However, you'd have to drive with your head sticking out of the t-tops because of how high the rails placed the seat. I was about to rework the setup again, when i thougth it was more work than it was worth (comfy seats, but they're not "sports car" friendly (don't support you in the turns so much etc) ) the vette seats on the other hand would be ideal for these cars, they'll hold you as straight and forward as any racing seat will, plus they'd give a more factory look than aftermarkets as well.

And on Ebay...you need to do it. Paypall is insured, and you won't lose your money the way people were in the old days, as secure as buying something through a department store, and the prices are to boot, occasionally if you're the only one that wants something, you'll get a really good deal.

Case in point, my northstar. Found the engine on ebay, no one bid on it, i picked it up for 125 bux, guy through in the intake manifold, fuel injectors, and throttle body, along with upper end wiring. Block had a bad head gasket as he stated, which it did, everything else was good, cylinders walls were holding up w/o gouges or needing to be refinished. And engine held good compression minus the head gasket that had crapped out. Drove 40 minutes with a friend of mine, through the engine in the back of the truck, drove it back to school, through it on a stand, and began disassembly. Could reassemble and sell the assembly for 3 times what i paid for it, w/o even thinking twice.
