no longer available parts
no longer available parts
Guys I know that I am not the only one getting a little frustrated by the lack of parts for thirdgen fbody cars.I am getting alot of nla on quarters, door skins, fender wells and alot of other things.Nobody makes repros on them as far as I can find so far and the usual sources like classic, npd, the paddock and all those people just say that gm no longer makes them and thats it.How come you can get any part at all you need for a 69 camaro and you can't get a wheelwell or a doorskin for one of our cars.Anybody have some good repro sources? Thanks

try certifit, im not sure what all they carry but they carry alot for many different cars including fbodies. It wont be long till third gen parts become part of repro companies list of available parts, because our cars are starting to get old.

Cars typically really start to go up in value at about 20-25 Years old. Its either 20 or 25 years (leaning towards 25 years) and the car is considered a "Classic" and is when companies start to make restoration parts.
If you look at the 2nd gens they had the same problems not too long ago. It will just take time before Aftermarket companies take notice and get enough calls for the parts that they decide to invest in the machinery.
Right now there are too many cars in good condition or really poor condition. Those cars in good condition still need nothing, and those cars in poor condition are finding their way into junkyards. Eventually almost every 3rd gen will be someones project, or parts car and then parts will be supplied.
If you want to complain about no support, try buying a 1967 Buick Riviera, parts are really hard to find, if you find them they are really expensive or no where near the condition you want.
WHen I got into 3rd Gens I loved it because I could actually find parts.
BTY try www.yearone.com THey still have fenders, but be prepaired to break out the second mortgage.

Am I missing something here?
Although I haven't had the need to look for these parts, I note that they are catalogued in Classic and Year One. Are they saying they don't have them?
I was under the impression that they bought up all the old GM dies, and were producing them.

There are plenty of places to get OEM and repo panels. Any body shop can get you the repo stuff, and Year One, Classic Industries and others should still carry a large amount of OEM panels.
Also remember that these cars are very plentiful in junk yards, so it's usually not too hard to find most of what you need.

My parts department shows most of the larger sheetmetal discontinued... quarters, doors etc...
But I would think if classic and year one are showing them in their catalog... They should stock them.
Yeah We can always get the Taiwan stuff, but that's not best case scenario.
