Trying to decide on leather seats -- ideas
I recently bought a black 92 RS convertible with 33K. It is practically mint. I love the car but hate the cloth interior. I bought some ebony 4th generation seats from the salvage yard and swapped out. They are nice but not perfect (had more wear than the car) and within 10 days I swapped them back out. Now I'm sick of looking at the cloth. I got my samples from Mr. Mikes, and one of his leather styles matches the 4th gen ebony color and pattern/texture perfectly. I'm thinking ... sell my "nice" 4th gen seats, pick up some MINT 4th gen ebony seats, order the door panels from Mr. Mikes, and it will look sweet. Or ... maybe I should be looking at aftermarket, or seats from other vehicles that will fit in the '92 without modification. I want something comfortable, black, stylish but not over the board (i.e. not racecar-looking seats I see advertised on ebay). Anyone got any recommendations? Most of all, I am very picky and want everything perfect.
Thanks!
Brian

C4 Seats would be cool. Or PMD Firebird seats if you can find them. Someone here posted that he found some PMDs in a 6000se. Honestly though I think the seats in the 3rd gen Camaros are sweet, they pretty much compliment everthing you want in a seat except that they aren't leather. Why not just get a whole Mr. Mikes package, his seat covers a great. The seat kit may seem pricey but its relativly cheap compared to custom ordered stuff elsewhere. Firebird PMDs aren't leather, I forgot but you could have them covered in leather. Or check out Hawks they have a great vinyl kit people say it feels like a soft leather. Hope that helps.

I've been debating about Mr. Mike's seats. One thing I'm worried about is that the instructions say to use a lot of cotton ... I guess to add support and fill out the seat. That seat foam holds its form for a long time, but wouldn't cotton flatten out and get lumpy within a few years?

Cotton stuffing is used in reupholstery work alot, but you could do a mock up see where the loose spots are and then glue foam additions to the existing foam core. I really wouldn't worry though Mikes gives you alot of cotton if you read the info you know that they emphasize on that point particularly. Also cotton is an extremely resilient fabric.

Take your existing seats to a good upholster and have them do something custom...
