Question on shapes in custom door panels
When you guys make custom door panels that have shapes under them like flames bowties, etc. is there any trick to getting the fabric to lay on there well? Are all the edges sharp or do they kind of slope up from the flatter area that's lower than it? I'm thinking about doing my door panels in my IROC so I could always glue the fabric with 3M spray adhesive to get sharp edges. I am also looking into doing a custom tonneau cover for my truck however and want to make a raised bowtie on it. I don't think I can use spray adhesive for this application because it'll eventually get wet and probably let loose. So I wanted to know how well the fabric might lay on it's own if it's tight. I'm planning on using marine vinyl for the tonneau.

the way i did my flames (unfortunately i don't have any pics right now) was to just lay the fabric down ontop of the foam and outline the flames with my fingers and make sure everything was nice and tight....if that makes any sense?

Yeah makes pretty good sense to me. So pretty much you just have the glue holding it down and it's been no problem?
I'm not so worried about my Camaro doors. More about the longevity of the cover for my truck...but that's not really thirdgen related I guess.
