aluminum bumper question.

they where available on 4cyl cars back in 82-84. will one from a firebird fit on my 87 camaro sport coupe?

a guy in MI has one, and i would like to buy it, but i don't know if they are interchangable onto my camar. i am talking about the bumper itself, not the bumper cover.

Impact bar would be more the term you're looking for.

I would imagine the bar is dimensinoally the same (as most of the chassis parts are) but, the camaro bar has the holes (in the bar) for the turn signals and the grille openings IIRC. If the impact absorber (honeycomb nylon/composite plastic part) will attach to the bar... then you may be in luck. Granted... that's just all speculation. A measurement compare between the two would be your more definate answer.

yes, unfortunately, i don't have access to a set of these said impact bars for measurement.

I don't think the Firebird bumpers will interchange with camaro, or it could just be the plastic that is the differance. anyways all 82-85 4cyl cars came with the aluminum bumpers stock, that's not to say if one was repaired in an accident the body shop didn't replace it with a steel. anyway my front one is aluminum i got it off a 84 firebird.
