Front bumper cover question

Front bumper cover question

i was wondering if anyone has ever take off those black filler pieces on the front bumper of the later 80s firebirds (not trans ams) and either filled them with something else or smoothed them out. I thought they were integrated into the bumper until today when i saw a white 3rd gen firebird that had been hit in the front and the black piece had popped out. Anyone have pics of this type of conversion? I wanna see how it would look.

I've thought about this as well. My idea was to use some kind of metal in place of plastic and have it powdercoated silver chrome or black. I asked about this in the past but nobody helped out. They just talked about changing to a different style bumper. I hope this inquiry gets a better answer this time.

i think it would really clean up the nose and I woudl assume the rear bumper is the same way. I think it woudl make the car look really clean if those were replaced and filled in with something.

I'm Thinking Tinted Plexiglass with some Fog Lights behind it. Almost Knight Rider but not quite. I think that would look very cool.

What does this look like? I have an '89 Firebird which I thought the previous owners had "butchered" to try and add a strobe effect. There's a picture of mine at this address. Should this have a filler as I am looking to get a replacement bumper?

I really never liked those black things and knew from the day i bought my Formula i would be removing them. I swapped bumper covers from my old 84 Firebird onto the car, and in the front i used 84 T/A grille inserts for a smoooth look (i had to fill in the Trans Am lettering).
