Trunk latch conversion

The pulldown motor for my latch went out a few days ago while I was about 200 miles from home. To keep it closed I would just slam it down until it caught and be on my way. Today I opened it up, to look for easy fixes, and the entire assembly just kind of, fell off the track. The motor was completely broken off of the entire assembly, and now I have a mess. I wont even be able to force the broken assembly into place. I am wondering if I can just go snag a non-motorized assembly from my local junkyard and just bolt it in. I think this would probably be a more sturdy design since I am constantly packing the trunk with my stuff, and the problem was brought on by a friend of mine "helping" when he thought I didn't push the trunk down far enough. To eliminate this problem I just want to put a non motorized latch on.

Has anybody done this? It seems to me that it would be fairly easy. Has anybody done this?

Thanks for the offer, but I found a motor at the local junkyard today. It needs more checking, but it would seem that any GM vehicle with a motorized pulldown will work to swap in. It seems that some of the connectors are different, but I think if most people would go to the junkyard and find one of these motors they could make something work.

I looked in the f-body section of this junkyard for about an hour with no luck. Then walking out of the junkyard I saw a motor assembly that caught my eye. The guy said it was off a Caddy, but it works just fine for me.
