For the most part, if the car has substantial rust (can see from the inside out or vice-versa) and you or a friend cannot do the fab/welding work yourselves... from a cost standpoint.. the car will be more valuable as parts.

If cost is no object to pay for the labor... then asking a rough estimate is a waste. Cost is equivilant to how bad the problem is. W/o pictures, it's difficult to even begin to give a cost estimate. Depending on severity based on visuals, it could be a 1hr job or a 10hr job,

the car itself is not rusty at all just behind the rear wells has a couple of holes i know you cant tell me what to do without pictures.im willing to spend 4-5 hundred to fix the problem.so what has to be done do you have to weld new pieces in from another car? or can it be patched? i was thinking of using por-15 to seal it up.anybody in new york, jersey, mass, penn that can help me?

Are you talking about the quarter panels on the car? If this is the only problem the car has, I'd say buy it. You can buy quarters and just have a body shop(or yourself if you're that good), cut out the old quarters, and weld in some new ones. A little bondo to smooth it over and you're good as new. Just my $.02

its not the quarter panels its right behind and all above the rear tires.it must be a common problem because my GTA is starting to get some rust in that area but im going to use some rust coating and then have it z barted.if you look above and around the rear well you can seem a seem and its rusted there and all above the well area. maybe it can just be reapired.for 400.00 this car is cheap for a t-top gta 350.my car doesnt have the t-tops thats why i like this one also 2 GTAS would be nice to have lol.

Well.. I had a longer reply but, for reasons, here's a cliffnote....

For the price, but it anyways. You can easily make your $ back if you decided to part it.

Rust with no holes can be stripped/blasted/converted and the cleaned metal re-treated to be "good as new"

Rust you can poke holes through or has holes already, needs patchwork. Depending on how far the cancer goes depends on the time and patch size.

Usually, if there's a good amount of rust in one area of the car, just as good of a chance for it to be in more places too.

Under the gfx, floorpans and inside the doors are 2 good places to breed rust as well.

It's ultimately up to you if you feel up to the task to 'restore' the car. I wouldn't pass up a $400 car though...
