4th gen guage question, need a quick answer

4th gen guage question, need a quick answer

can i use a 6cyl cluster in my v8 for the dash swap ? its out of a 95 bird

I believe, since you have TBI, you will need a converter for the Speedometer. All 4th gen clusters expect a different PPM from your VSS... 3000 I think. This is a non-issue for the TPI and 86+ MPFI.

You will also need a second converter for the Tachometer. This is necessary for anyone swapping a 4th gen cluster into their 3rd gen though. I have a 3.1 and tested a v6 and v8 4th gen cluster in my car. Both were way off.

You can get the converters from DakotaDigital.com. They're kind of pricey. I haven't bought one for my tach yet since I'm not even driving for the winter.

i have a 97 v8 cluster wired to my MSD box. factory tach reads perfect.( im sure its off at WOT, factory tachs suck!)
