I'm not too familiar with the gauges in the late 80's and early 90's Firebirds. Which years and which models had the "digital dash?" When did they start and finish making them and is there a way to tell if it has a digital dash by the model, year or vin number?? Thanks

Mostly 88's, some 87's and few 89's depending on build time.

I'm sure the only way to tell if it's got a digital dash is looking inside or the RPO codes. Theoretically you might be able to get a replacement build sheet or dealer option sheet from GM that MIGHT list that.

Do you think I should be able to find a Trans Am between 87-89 that doesn't have the digital dash. Or is it something that came on all the top model Firebirds of those years?? THANKS

Yeah, I don't think you'd have a problem at all. I don't see the digi dashes much at all.

I have yet to see a digi dash T/A in real life so I think you shouldn't have any problem finding something without it.

i've owned 4 gta's and 3 out of 4 had the digital dash.

it was a 87-88 exclusive option and i belive it was more common than the analog gauges.

I saw a complete digital dash with harness on ebay yesterday, perhaps it's still there. Might be worth to take a look at it.

I found it, it's still there, 5 hours to go: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

I was just making sure that it was possible to find one without the digital gauges. I like the analog ones better. Which is more precise?

I believe the digital is more precise. But they only made about 2000+ cars with the digital dash. Mine has one and I love it!

I'm not insulting your car, Mr. Moderator , but IMHO digital gauges are for Cadillacs. If you own a sports car it's got to have analog gauges.

I have an analog Firebird cluster if you are interested. I don't have the wiring for it though. I can send pics tomorrow.
