Removing the door lock & shaving
Hery guys, I am prepping my car for a new paint job and ran into a litte trouble. I have the inner panel off my door and have managed to removed the door handle(with cutting myseld only one on the sharp edges). Not I cannot get the door key out. To me it looks like it had a metal clip holding it on (correct??). I have tryed to pull it with plyers and tap on it with a screwdriver and hammer but couldnt get it to budge. Anyone have some advice on how to do it easier? I dont want to get rough with it because thats less body work for me
Also does anyone know a good walk through online about shaving handles (trying to do it without a welder)
Thanks in advance...

The lock is held in place by a clip. Its sort of a U shape, just push it and it will come unclipped.
As far as shaving the doorhandles without a welder; I would not suggest that. Borrow a welder from a friend or just get someone to weld them for you- you'll be sorry if you try to fill the gap without welding.

I had some probs getting that dam clip off the lock. Sometimes they rust up. I had to get a screw drive under one side of it and bend it up. If done carefull should be able to do it with out messing up the door. try to soak it with some PB blaster to.. LIke 82firebird said would not do it with out welding in some metal. U don't want bondo, glass, ect ect ect, thinker than 1/4 inch. and thats pushing it.U might be able to glue ( fuser, SEM, dure a mix) pieces of metal togetther to fill it up some. But that would be a PITA. Never tried it but it might work.
I did it to my old car, It came out nice... BUT! In the colder months. The damn things froze up. So I ended up hiding a hood pop cable in my wheelwell that ran into the door as a kind of fail safe. Good luck with it, it's a sweet mod!

This isn't totally relavant, but I completely rebuild my rear quarter panel with bondo and it lasted. I actually just wrecked the car and took a bat to it to see if I did a good job. The whole rear quarter panel was smashed and mis-shapen, about 2 inches of bondo in some parts, and it took a few direct hits with a bat to damage it. This was my first time with body work and its already a year old. So although bondoing those holes may not be the best idea, if done right it could work very well.

Yeah it will work. And might stay forever. But filler is not really meant for big hole, dents, ect ect. Just for filling in high and low spots.
