anyone ever try this process of finish film instead of wet sanding. i just ordered up the system with a new sander to try it on the z. i already wet sanded the car once and it needs another go and i didn't feel like rubbing again, i hear good stuff about this process for time savings and end results of being excellent.

I am saving that link and showing it to my friend who painted my car. Need to get the orange peel out and this may save time, like you mentioned.

 

Yes!!!!! I've done this for a few years now..I wasn't quit sold
on it at first so I tried it on a few cabinet's that I flamed..

I use the 3M system,,, And all I can say is (Works Great)..

First !! Also tried it on a 64 buick Rivie GS with dual Quad set up,

From there on--- I use it on all vehicle's now...

i used the finish film today 1200 grit with an airvantage sander i also purchased at autobody depot. man is this thing a time saver and works great i wil never wet sand again...

Actually my guys use this, then buzz the entire surface, that was dry sanded, wet, with a DA/3000g with an interface pad. Works good for an OEM type look. But for my money you can't beat that old fashioned had sanded finish.
I used to use a similar product about 15 years ago, but the clears just weren't up to snuff. The old DELGLO style clears used to ball up and leave little trails in the finish that had to be wetsanded in the end anyways.

 

I like the stuff. Huge time saver.. What i do is use some 1200. Get most of the orange peel out. Than I go over that with 1500 wet.
