I have a small problem and I want to take care of it before it becomes a big problem. When I turn my steering wheel fast, the tilt lock unlocks and makes cracking noises and the wheel will tilt up and down! It first happened in a parking lot when I needed to turn suddenly at low speed to avoid hitting someone who backed out of their stall without looking. Well it's happening more and more often, and I'm worried the tilt lock will let go alltogether. How do I go about fixing this? Already searched.

i had something like this happen to me.... but the whole sterring wheel went around in circles and i couldnt shut the car off.... on the left side of the colum, behind the 2 plastics covers that go around the turn signal lever, see if there is a pin thathas popped out, i had to hammer mine back in, and its as good as new now
