steering wheel swap

I've done a couple searches, but I can't seem to find exactly what I'm looking for. I HATE HATE HATE HATE the look of my airbag steering wheel. Will any other 3rd gen wheel bolt up directly to my car?

Thanks,
Bill

I'd like to do the same thing. I have a manual box in the car, and the airbag wheel is a pain in the rear to turn over 5 times. I wa thinking of looking for one like my '84 had, but I'm not sure if it will fit. I imagine it will, but who knows.

im 100% they are the same the one in my 88 is from an 84 but mine doesnt have an airbag. But they should be the same spline count on the steering column. But it'll fit. go try it people are using 4th gen wheels in their thrirdgens why wouldnt one be able to be changed from a 91-2?

My Formula (like all 90-92 Firebird's) originally had the air bag, and i also Hated the way it looked. So i swapped it with this steering wheel from an 87 Firebird. the one off my old 84 Fit too, but the leather on that one was coming off, so i didn't use it, but had it on there for a few days anyway.

Dave84Bird,

That wheel is off an 87 Firebird? I dont really care for the GTA steering wheels, and the firebird wheels without the gold screaming chicken are boring. I think thats the wheel I want for my car.

Thanks,
Bill

Yes, I also used to own a 87 Firebird which eventually got parted after the 2.8 died, so i pulled the wheel and put it in the Formula. The bird in the center did not come silver, i painted inside the grooves with a toothpick.
