A metal rod that supports the lid. It keeps it shut, or it keeps it open. I didn't like it and didn't bother installing my center console that had that rod when I swapped interiors.

Thanks

Ok thanks, We worked forever to get the little console glove box light to work yesterday, (The solution to the problem was so simple, we couldn't see it.) and we also replaced the bulb on my shifter (The one that lights up Park, Reverse, Neutral etc.) Only to find out that the indicator to tell you what gear you're in is missing. Then I saw that and thought I'd ask what it was.

Thanks again,
James

Both of my firebirds didn't have a gear indicator, just a light behind it. My console light has always been broken on both birds as well, I'm going to head out to a junkyard and grab a working one.
