Garage paint booth

I am starting off my project z28 with a fresh paint job. Unfortunately, I've never done a paint job before. However, this board has guided me to the point of making my booth. I have the car washed, rinsed, preped, sanded then preped again. The metal is down to 220 and the bumpers are down to 440. The doors hood and trunk are off to be painted seperately (first so I can practice). My garage is clean, kinda. I have 6 lights set up wired into the garage circuit (50 watt x 4 and 100 watt x 2). I'm making the booth out of plastic from lowes and hanging it from the rafters in the garage. I'll be using charcol canisters when I paint. I have 2 questions:

1. Do I have enough light set up? I can't change the wattage of the fixtures (they were free). But I could add some shop lamps for 40 bucks.

2. If I mount a box fan from the rafters and filter air from the rafters will that be suffient? Furthermore, would it be more like a downdraft booth? Or would it just mess up my paint as it sprays?

Sorry this is so long. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for all the help.

Shawn

I have never painted but what my dad did and a buddy of mine did was first they got some of those 48 inch Fluorescent lights. My dad had 4 of them on the ceiling and my buddy used 6 they light very well and you can see alot of the spots they had to refinish, missed, or looked good. Im not sure how your garage is setup but is it drywall with an attic access or does it have a vent goin to the outside?

If its an attic like my parent all my dad did was get a box fan screwed some 2x4's across to hold it and fill in the open space with those cheap 49 cent furnace filters. And when you put the fan in make it so it blows into the attic or outside, you can mess the spray pattern or stir up dust around the room. lasty before you use the tack cloth and a few days before you paint clean the floor up of any mess, dust, tools ect so that you cannot stir up any sitting dust. before you spray get a hose or a few buckets of water on the floor where your going to be moving around, this insures that you do not get any dust in the air from just moving around. Thats all I know and like I said I have never done this myself but both my buddy and father have done some good garage paint jobs
