door panel
Hey everybody, this is my first car, and I had a question about installing new speakers. I know the firebird did not come with speakers in the door, but I have heard many people say they installed 5.25" speaks in the door, how do you go about getting the door panel off? Sorry for such a dumb question, but im really trying to understand my car better. Thanks for any help!

First thing you need to know is that some of the screws that look like they're holding the panel on are fake...if you try to unscrew them you'll just mess em up. Once you find the correct ones (this is on the black panel with the handle and lock mechanism) then all you need to do is remove the arm rest (three screws - two underneath and one in the skinny upper portion) and then the rest just pops out from around the outside. Once all the pops are undone, slide it upwards. If im not mistaken, thats all there is to it, but there may be one or two more screws to remove.

I actually put 6.5" Infinity's in mine. I had to "massage" the inner lip that was already cut in the door with a ball peen hammer but the hardest part was cutting and making the new window crank to work and look nice. here is a pic
